Looking forward to the 2nd Annual Missouri Rural Health & Transportation Get Link’d Conference in Columbia, MO next week. Last year I got to see old friends and customers, as well as learn from local and national experts on the future of mobility management. Hopeful to take away some new contacts and great information again this year!
Check out the latest updates from EnGraph Software
We (Brett and I) are headed down to Rogers, AR today for the Arkansas Transit Conference. EnGraph Software has a long history with this great conference since 2001. Ann & Jim Gilbert always put on a great event for both the attendees and vendors. We are excited to see our great friends from the ATA, Razorback Transit, NATS and Hot Springs Intracity this week. We are staying in style, as the conference and expo is being held at the huge Embassy Suites of Northwest Arkansas – Hotel, Spa & Convention Center pictured here.
We are headed out to lovely Snowmass Village near Aspen, CO tomorrow for the annual CASTA/CDOT Colorado Fall Transit Conference and EXPO. EnGraph has 11 Colorado agencies using ParaPlan in places like Loveland, Trinidad, Sterling, Lakewood, Fruita & Frisco. BATS in Berthoud has been using ParaPlan since 2003! We are looking forward to driving through the Rockies and seeing our old and new Colorado transit friends.
We are so excited to be participating in the 2016 Transit Midwest/State Public Transportation Partnerships Conference right in our hometown! Kyle and Brett will be showing off new features in ParaPlan at Booth #5 in the Century Ballroom of The Westin Crown Center.
This conference and trade show is a cooperative effort among the states of Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, and Missouri, and partnerships with AASHTO, APTA, and CTAA. The event is scheduled for August 14 – 16, 2016.
On this #TBT, we’re highlighting our ParaPlan Appointment Screen from 1999!
That was then and this is now…
Happy New Year everyone! We released a highly requested feature for building a new day in ParaPlan. Our ‘Build From Previous’ tool now has the option labeled ‘G’ in the attached screenshot, allowing the user to copy the custom times used for each matching trip on date ‘B’. This allows users to better utilize the exact stop order and detailed sequencing used previously.
A – Select Day, the date to build (or re-build)
B – Previous Date (optional), the date to use as a template for building
C – Copy Route Structure (optional), brings all the routes used on the previous date to the date being built
D – Copy Driver Assignments (optional), copies the driver assignments from the previous date to the date being built
E – Copy Start/End Times (optional), copies each route’s start and end time assignments from the previous date to the date being built
F – Copy Route Assignments (optional), copies each trip’s route assignment from the previous date to the date being built. Only if trip (or subscription) is active and details matched on both days.
G* NEW! – Copy PU and DO Times (optional), copies each trip’s previously used pick up time and drop off time designation from the previous date to the date being built.
ParaPlan will be on display at the New Jersey Trans Action Conference & Expo in Atlantic City this week. The trade show floor is open all day Wednesday and Thursday morning at the Tropicana Hotel. EnGraph Software and ParaPlan will be at Booth #11 (front left corner after you enter exhibit hall).

ParaPlan Chase got a few new features today. To use ParaPlan Chase, click the “Chase” button on any route with an iOS device in Scheduling Canvas.
ParaPlan Chase will now show current traffic conditions. Green is good, yellow is slow and red is really slow.
Hovering over a GPS point will now show the current speed and the time the GPS point was recorded.
Click the current GPS icon to show the entire history of that driver – even if they were in a different vehicle. You can also hover over the points to see the time and the speed.
Apple just approved version 1.4.6 of ParaPlan Mobile on the App Store.
This version is mostly bug fixes and performance improvements, but we’ve added some nice new touches as well.
The entire workflow around signature collection has been rebuilt. It is faster to get to the signature screen and signatures upload faster than ever. They also look much nicer.
Client and trip comments now “bubble up” from the bottom of the screen when a driver arrives at a pick up location. The comments will automatically go away after 10 seconds, or if the driver manually dismisses them. This allows drivers to see critical information about a client without having to drill into the details.
Drivers can now record collected copays. They can specify the amount of collection and the type of collection (cash, voucher, ticket). Partial payments and overpayments are also allowed. However, in the interest of simplicity, the driver just has to click on the copay field and it will assume payment was collected in full with the default payment type (set in Admin on ParaPlan Desktop). If there was a partial payment or overpayment or a different payment type, the driver can touch again to edit the payment. The most common action is the default allowing the driver to quickly get back to work.
Clients that require copays to be collected have the amount displayed sideways next to their name on the manifest. When the driver sees this, they should click into Trip Details and click the copay amount. This will record it as collected and the amount will not be displayed on the front screen. If the driver clicks again on the copay amount it will open a screen where they can edit the details.
We spent a lot of time perfecting our odometer collection algorithms. I mean, A LOT OF TIME. We think we are pretty close to perfect, but drivers should still check in on the settings screen to make sure our calculated odometer matches the vehicle odometer. Newer iPhones and iPad with the motion coprocessor will see dramatic improvements and the calculated odometer should be dead-on, day after day.
Improvements to iPad
Bouncing around between screens is no good and can leave a driver feeling out of control. On the iPad version, we put the settings in a popover controller on the front screen instead of having it in its own separate tab.
Speaking of the settings screen, the connection information is smarter and only runs on demand. It also displays the type of cellular connection.
We are building up our mobile FAQs on Freshdesk. Now drivers can can view the FAQs from inside the app. Just click into settings to see the new button. Drivers can also submit tickets directly from the app.
